For the last few days, I have been trying to organize my thoughts and write about how I feel about the "UNTOUCHABLES!" No, I am not talking about the G-Men of old or a movie made many years ago. I am talking about the get away & out-of-jail free card being given to the IDLE RICH.
This morning while I was reading an article posted by an author here on the Vine, I was incensed that the tact they were taking was again - ALL ABOUT OBAMA. The article was re: the recovery & how slow it was and that it was the slowest ever in history - yada-yada! Several comments were in relation to those who were on watch at the time of the MELT-DOWN - of not just our financial matters, but also the worlds. I had already seen the Frontline piece that was done in either 2009 or 2010, but this ("UNTOUCHABLES") was beyond the pale.
While watching "The Ed Show," on Monday night, I was alerted to the new Frontline documentary about "Wall Street etc." It was already past time for PBS showing it so I went up and set my DVR to catch it later. I was not prepared for what I would see the next morning. I went from immediately being LIVID to crying my eyes out and then ANGER! I knew, I wanted to put finger to keyboard, yet I didn't know what I would say. I thought about giving shout-outs to those unsung hero's who then and now fight for us (in the face of much frustration and objection) to receive justice & I will do that here, yet first if you have not seen the piece I referred to or the 60 Minutes on CNBC "Prosecuting Wall Street" PLEASE SEE THEM - IMMEDIATELY!
I had recorded both, as well as 60 Minutes on CNBC "Home-Wrecker," which I haven't viewed yet - it relates to what I am writing about though within the after math of the housing bubble, but there was only so much I could take! The just is that after four years -
THERE HAVE BEEN NO PROSECUTIONS - How is this possible?!
Last night (01/24/13) on "ED Show" it was announced that Lannie Breuer is stepping down from DOJ - in part because of the scathing indictment of the DOJ within the body of "Untouchables - 01/22/13," it was Mr. Breuer's contention during the interview that those who require prosecution had not met the legal requirement for "INTENT" within the legal definition of FRAUD, MISREPRESENTATION or CONVERSION!
So a man who ran Countrywide with a personalized vanity plate that read "FUNDUM" had no intent to defraud either the stockholders, the people who worked for him (that sold their ethics, fellow citizens, pride & dignity), as well as those who were mislead (INTENTIONALLY) to obtain loans. To be fair here he was prosecuted (to a degree the S.E.C. can not put anyone in jail!) given a small fine a few million in comparison to the hundreds of millions he stole and he can not run a company of the nature of Countrywide ever again! I have heard people say "they were living above their means..." perhaps some were, yet some were taking down the path with the longing for a dream that "WE" all have to prosper in America!
The employees of Countrywide, Citi Group, Lehmann Brothers & on blew & blew the whistle to no avail. The Senate was told in hearings regarding the detriment of DERIVATIVES & NO ONE LISTENED! These greedy individuals set out on a path that INTENTIONAL lead to the demise of OUR & the WORLD ECONOMY, YET NO ONE HAS BEEN PROSECUTED!
These are a few names that I can give you that deserve our thanks:
Former Sen. Ted Kaufman and his staff - Sen. Kaufman who took the seat of Joe Biden (briefly from 2009 through 2010) and did so without campaign/lobby money and was beholden to no one FOUGHT from the first. He chaired committees and fought for prosecution - along with his staff and they got the HELL out of Dodge when his time was up!
Matthew Lee - Matthew was with Lehmann Brother's. He was a Senior Executive & Accountant for the Global Balance Sheet. After working for them for 14 years Matthew shortly before the bottom fell out of Lehmann sent a letter regarding massive unethical practices and refused to sign off on the accuracy of the firms accounting - the company offshored $50 Billion Dollars to the UK to make their profit margin look one way & then they after documents were in - returned the money to the company accounts - as it was against the law and the legislation that Bush implemented in 2002 after Enron under Serbanes Oxley Act to sign such documents KNOWNINGLY!
Richard Bowen - Testified before the Senate Judiciary Committee regarding the bad business practices of Citi Group that he constantly reported & sent out emails in 2006 to the CEO (who was also formerly Secretary of the Treasury), CFO, Senior Risk Officer & Chief Auditor. The CEO also testified in front of this committee and stumbled over his words denying - Mr. Bowen (if you do not know the degree for which the Whistle Blower Laws were butchered under Bush!) took a great chance doing what he did and he followed through by demanding an internal investigation & could only sit back in amazement - as from the period of 2006 when 60% of the loans were not remotely meeting internal standard to when in 2007 it had risen to 80% & NO ONE GOT BACK TO HIM!
Both Matthew & Richard lost their jobs after having their responsibilities lessened to being told not to come back.
There are so many whistle blowers with information, documentation and a story to tell, yet they are being ignored to OUR detriment. Mr. Breuer says he doesn't know what they could possible say that could help, but by all means "if anyone has information that could help prosecute" REALLY, yes Mr. Breuer if you haven't talked to any of these people let us send them by the bus load (not to be confused with the bus loads sent by those business men to make shift RALLIES) along with the bundles of boxes of EVIDENCE! The theory is that they are the ones who are keeping our economy going - yet after the fiasco they sat on $$$ wouldn't loan a dime and committed more fraud to boot people out of their houses THEY ARE TRYING TO USE THE VERY ECONOMY THEY RUINED TO HIDE & EVADE PROSECUTION! Since "WE" have to do the DOJ's job - ALL WHISTLE BLOWER'S FROM THIS SITUATION HEAD TO WASHINGTON!
Let me tell ya what some of you may not be aware of: The Banks borrowed money from the Fed. at 000000000000(on & on).01% interest (can you get that??) from 2006 until September of 2009 & they made $200 TRILLION DOLLARS - yep TRILLION and yep, I said September of 2009. So when some of the Banks met with the Fed. to say they didn't need the MONEY, THEY DIDN'T NEED THE MONEY & yet it was given to them! what did "WE" get do you recall, I believe it was two Federal Income Tax Rebate Checks and depending upon your income that will determine how it helped you or the economy you were to stimulate with it! So let us do the math here - MILLIONS & TRILLIONS vs. a couple of HUNDRED BUCKS, LOST JOBS, HOMES, PENSIONS, SAVINGS, RETIREMENT INCOME - and you & your families/children's former standing of living hasn't stopped growning and going up - but your State Representative wants to prove they can be hard on those whiny, dependent, free-stuff getters and by all means let us make sure they have nothing & no one to go to while
GREEDY, BANKERS, HEDGE FUNDERS, MONEY MARKETERS, WALL STREET, CORPORATE WELFARE RECEIVING AND OVER ALL WHITE COLLAR RAIDERS - GET AWAY WITH THEIR CRIMES & DO NOT SEE A DAY BEHIND BARS OR AN OUNCE OF CIVIL LITIGATION ON BE HALF OF THE PEOPLE!
I do not care to put a bunch of numbers here or draw a long winded conclusion when what was/is in my face is SUFFICIENT!
Recently in the State across from me Sen. Sam Brownback has cut assistance to the poor and the funding for the education of small children because the State of KS has short falls to its budget - this is going on all around the UNTIED STATES! These men and women can not be bothered to handle the matters of their States with any solution other than PUT IT ON THE BACKS OF THE POOR and those most harmed by these SMARMY WHITE COLLAR CRIMINALS. Oh, I see they can take the time to bicker with their colleagues, be partisan and grab for POWER, GERRYMANDER & FIND WAYS TO DISENFRANCHISE THE VOTER'S to further promote their PETTY AGENDA, yet no compassion for the:
The elderly - most who were having a hard enough time as the cost of med's and living made them choose EVERYDAY. Those who had wheedled out a comfortable living with retirement and their SS, yet now with the shenanigans of these despicable individuals and corporation's of the UNETHICAL they are worried - one should not have to be worried in their declining years or when they are dying (a shout out to Bobby Jindal - who is cutting funding to HOSPICE in Louisiana come Feb. 1st because he can't be seen as soft on the DYING, nope his TP dictator's might not like that & well it's just not prudent for a representative of THE PEOPLE to ACTUALLY CONSIDER THE PEOPLE - ANYMORE! what a guy!)
Working Poor - who through no fault of their own they have watched their jobs dry up & blow away and be replaced by "right-to-work" or "at-will" agendas of those who call themselves JOB CREATORS! You know those among us who work an honest days work, yet can not feed their families or provide for health care because these special jobs no longer provide for their employees that they use to refer to as FAMILY, TEAM-MEMBERS & MATES now they or just them - that want free stuff, them that need health care them!
De-funding programs such as Head-Start, Pre-School & Pre-K because they do not require education or opportunity unless they or their families earn so much a year! How do "WE" prepare our children for a "Global Economy" and success when they are counted out before they start - the children of the 47% - your kids, your neighbors kids - AMERICAN KIDS! Many families have had to turn to food banks, charities etc. not because they want hand-outs but because some have put them in the positions of needing them because of their GREED, AVARICE AND ARROGANCE bundling debt then adding sub-prime mortgages to that bundle and wondering why it didn't work, but no problem THE PEOPLE WILL PAY! Or those who can't find work because they are older workers, or have been out of work for awhile or whose jobs NO LONGER EXIST!!!!
As one of the PEOPLE, I say "WE" have paid and it is time for those who created the problem to PAY!
Their INTENT was clear as crystal and as such BEFORE THE STATUTE OF LIMITATIONS RUNS OUT - OURS SHOULD BE MADE JUST AS CRYSTAL CLEAR - GO TO JAIL, DIRECTLY TO JAIL!!!
The White House wants our input let us give it. Our States need actual work for the people, lets give them some. Our Congress wants to be pissy about something - lets get um good and pissy at those who float their campaigns and steal the people BLIND! "WE" wanna be all indignant and upset (lately with each other over who's party is better, or WON/LOST, bat-nuts-crazy, laziest etc.) this should put US ALL ON THE SAME PAGE! Some people stood around and said that it was ok, nothing "WE" can do about it, some people got a lawyer and got a little something back, yet all can't - where are the lawyers here because usually there would have been quite the feeding frenzy CRIMINAL & CIVIL, yet all is quite save for Frontline & 60 Minutes who just gave us a
WAKE UP CALL - SO LETS STOP THE BELLY ACHING - LET'S ROLL & DO SOME BUTT KICKING - TODAY!!!!
